MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
Compass Learning Odyssey® delivers standards aligned Pre- K - 12 curricula that provide interactive, self-paced, challenging, engaging activities. Activities promote exploration, individual and cooperative learning, problem solving, reflection and real world connections. Odyssey applies current and confirmed research about how students think and learn.
A free online summer school review is available for all Caro students in 1st - 8th grades. If you would like your child enrolled in a language arts and math review, email your name, child's first and last name, birthyear and grade level just completed to compass@caro.k12.mi.us. Your child's user name and password will be emailed to you. Each child must complete an online assessment in language arts and/or math so the program can individualize the instruction needed to master the content of the grade level.

There is a new notes feature in Skyward Student and Family Access that students & parents may find very useful. Parents can leave a note on the calendar for their child or students can leave a note for themselves. Students can tie the note to a certain course or just leave a note. EXAMPLES: "Come straight home after school. We have to leave at 4 pm for your brother's basketball game." (If parents use the note feature for examples such as this, they have to make sure that their child knows to check their Skyward Student Access every day) "Hope you are having a good day. Good luck on your Math test!" Students: "Study for Math test" and the student would tie this note to their Math course. "Go right home after school - leave at 4 pm for Jason's game." To use this new feature, click on the Skyward Family Access button at the left and follow the instructions under "Note Feature Instructions". In an ongoing effort to help students with career choices, the High School Guidance Office is compiling a database of information on alumni who are willing to be contacted by current students who have questions about particular careers. ATTENTION PARENTS THAT USE SKYWARD FAMILY ACCESS:
In an effort to reduce postage, paper cost and the time involved in mailing report cards, parents now have the option of viewing and/or printing report cards from Family Access instead of receiving a "hard copy" in the mail.
Even though with Family Access, you have the option of looking at your child's grades on a continuous basis with "real-time" information, you can also click on the "Report Card" link at the left and view or print their report card. Therefore, if you DO NOT WANT to receive report cards in the mail any longer, please email the building secretary at the building that your child attends (email listed below) and in the message area, type: I no longer wish to receive a hard copy report card for: and then list your child's name and grade. BEFORE THE INCLEMENT WEATHER HITS, SIGN UP FOR CARO COMMUNITY SCHOOLS e-ALERT . . .
Caro Community Schools, in cooperation with the Tuscola County Advertiser, Mix 92.1 and Tuscola Today, is initiating a new procedure for contacting parents and staff in the event of a school closing - the Caro Community Schools e-Alert. This system will be used to announce delayed openings and school closings in addition to TV5, TV 12, TV 25, WKYO, Mix 92.1, WHNN and WIOG.
How will the system work? Log on to http://www.tuscolatoday.com/caro/schoolalert/ and create a membership. When school is cancelled or delayed and you are a member and have clicked "Email", an email will be instantaneously be sent to you showing the closing information. If, when creating your membership with Tuscola Today, you checked "Cell Phone", a text message will automatically be sent to you. You can also click on both email and cell phone and both will be sent. When you become a member, sign up for the Caro Community Schools e-alert system. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. The system is Internet based, allowing family members to maintain a secure, password protected online profile. You can log into your profile at any time to update your contact information. Maintaining the accuracy of your profile will increase the ability of the school to keep you informed. The protection of your personal information is very important to us. Our alert system will not be used by any organization other than Caro Community Schools for the purpose of sending instant delayed school openings or school closings. Your online profile will enable you to: � Input your personal contact information (cell phone number and e-mail address where you would like to receive alerts). � Select Caro Community Schools e-alert. � Take advantage of all other features offered on the http://www.tuscolatoday.com/ .
